No one likes to admit that they feel alone. But often times in life, that is a very valid feeling we experience. More often than not, people don’t feel lonely because they don’t have friends or family that they spend time with, they feel a deeper sense of loneliness that comes from the God-sized hole we all have in our hearts.
Something I’m sad to say is that a lot of people will never recognize that this loneliness comes from a lack of God in their lives and they live their entire life desiring something that they won’t find here on this earth. Some people, however, do recognize their need for God and work on developing a relationship with He who is always there for us.
But what happens when God feels far away?
We all experience this at some point in our lives. Even Saint Teresa of Calcutta experienced a time in her life where she experienced an absence of God. And look at what we call her- a saint.
God never leaves us; we know this as a fact. But sometimes, it seems as if there are times where He pulls away from us a little, maybe to teach us a lesson or draw us even closer to Him.
It is frustrating and exhausting at times. Lately, there have been times in my life that God feels so far away that I get angry and breakdown. It’s hard to push through the hard times when it feels like God isn’t there to guide you through it.
As I get older, I’m realizing more and more that life is really hard. And when the God who is supposed to make everything okay feels distant, life seems impossible to do.
The best thing you can do is to be persistent. Continue with your daily prayers, spend quiet time in His presence, go to Mass, read the Bible, pray the Rosary. Pray when you’re frustrated and when He feels the farthest away.
I can promise you that God is there. Be persistent in your faith and do not give up on God, because He will never give up on you.
